Interieurtafereel, a 19th‑century oil painting on panel by the Hollandse School, originating from Belgium, signed and sold with a frame.
Description from the seller
Antique oil painting on panel, interior scene, Flemish school, in a richly gilded frame.
Atmospheric antique oil painting on wooden panel, attributed to the Flemish school and executed in the style of the Dutch Golden Age masters of the 17th century. The scene shows a domestic interior where a party sits at a table laid with white linen, while a maid in yellow approaches with a tray. Through a window on the left, daylight pours in, and in the background a second figure can be seen by a cabinet. The dark, warm color palette and the domestic setting are characteristic of this genre.
On the back of the panel there is a handwritten note: "Restauratie 1985, Francine", with an inventory number. In addition, a name is written on the back of the frame, though it is poorly legible; see the photos.
The painting is housed in a richly decorated gilded stucco frame with floral and graceful motifs, appropriate to the style of the work. The panel itself measures 30.5 x 36 cm. The work including the frame measures 51.5 x 59 cm. This frame is in turn placed in an extra black surround or housing of 54 x 59 x 8 cm, possibly for protection during transport or presentation.
The work is in good condition, with traces of previous restoration and light signs of wear consistent with age. A atmospheric decorative object for lovers of classical painting.
