Elio Luxardo (1908–1969) was an Italian photographer best known for refined studio portraits of actors, writers, and cultural figures in Rome and Milan from the 1930s onward. Born in Brazil to Italian parents, he developed a polished black-and-white style marked by elegant lighting, cinematic atmosphere, and a modern sense of glamour. Luxardo became especially associated with Italian film culture, photographing many performers and public personalities of the Fascist and postwar eras, while also producing striking nude studies and occasional experimental compositions. Today, he is regarded as one of the key names in 20th-century Italian portrait photography.
