Description from the seller
Artist: M. Perone
Title: Kindred Spirits
Technique: Oil on canvas
Dimensions: 40 x 30 cm
M. Perone transposes on the canvas an atmosphere suspended between dream and magical realism, strongly indebted to preraphaelite aesthetics and 19th-century symbolism.
At the center of the composition, which develops in an intimate and gathered vertical format, a young woman with delicate features and an ivory complexion gently holds a red fox in a deep and protective embrace. The girl, with eyes softly closed and an expression of absolute serenity, tilts her head onto the animal's head, suggesting a total empathic and spiritual fusion. The fox, on the contrary, turns its magnetic and vigilant gaze directly toward the observer, standing as a proud guardian of this secret moment.
The most visually striking element is the extraordinary chromatic and formal harmony between the two subjects. The woman's majestic tresses, a cascade of voluminous curls in coppery and foxy hues, blend almost seamlessly with the fox's soft fur. Perone's technical mastery is evident in the meticulous rendering of details: from individual strands of hair to the finest brushstrokes that define the texture of the animal's coat, down to the sumptuous drapery of the woman's dress. The sleeve of the garment is decorated with complex embroidery, precious lace, and details that simulate pearls and gold threads, capable of catching light with a vibrant micro-glimmer.
The protagonists are immersed in a rich and claustrophobic natural backdrop that evokes the concept of hortus conclusus. Dense and lush vegetation, dominated by opulent roses in pale pink and deep red tones, envelops the figures. Small touches of blue and bluish flowers emerge from the dark foliage, creating a sophisticated complementary contrast with the warm and dominant tones of the painting.
The light, soft and diffuse, seems to emanate from within the characters themselves, illuminating the scene with a lyrical glow. The work presents itself as a poetic and timeless narrative about the primordial and indissoluble harmony between the human being and wild nature.
