Painting depicting a white goat kid in a rural landscape, signed in the lower left by Gaetano Jerace (often transliterated as Ierace).
Gaetano Jerace (1860–1940) was an Italian painter born in Polistena and active mainly in Naples.
He was part of a famous family of artists, including brothers Francesco (sculptor) and Vincenzo (sculptor and painter).
The painting is a typical example of his output linked to pastoral scenes and animals, subjects very common in the art academies of southern Italy between the late 19th and early 20th century.
Characterized by a realist and academic approach, with particular attention to the naturalistic rendering of animals and the light of southern landscapes.
The work bears the artist's typical signature in the lower left.
The painting belongs to a private collection.
