​Description of the work:
​In "Silent Lithos" (Silent Stone), Federico Alibrio's ceramics shed their ductile nature to become mineral substance, simulating the solemnity and millennial stillness of rock. The piece portrays a barn owl in a posture of intimate and contemplative gathering, with the head tilted to accentuate the heart-shaped facial disc, an element that has always defined its mystery.

The Texture and the Material:
The sculpture's surface is a celebration of the earth. The texture, matte and rich in veins and calibrated grooves, evokes the raw stone carved by the wind or the ancient trunk of a tree. The chromatic nuances – a delicate alternation of clay-gray tones, earthy hues, and hints of lichened green – seem to emerge directly from the subsoil. The fusion between the rough finish of the stylized plumage and the smoother, glossier details gives the work a unique tactile vibration, where light plays with shadows just as it would in the depth of a nocturnal forest.

The Meaning of the Barn Owl:
An archetypal liminal creature, suspended between the visible world and the invisible one, the barn owl has historically been the guardian of the night’s secrets, a symbol of ancient wisdom, transition, and clairvoyance. Alibrio does not depict a predator in flight, but captures its most spiritual essence: solitary vigilance. The barn owl thus becomes an "ancient guardian" who sees through the darkness of appearances, a conduit between primordial nature and human consciousness.

The piece, made of ceramic, is part of a series where each piece is unique because it is ceramicized with different glazes and effects.

The Sicilian artist Federico Alibrio, born in 1995, is always seeking inspiration to grow through new experiences.

A graduate in Sculpture in 2021 from the Academy of Fine Arts of Catania, he deals with sculpture and painting. He has participated and continues to participate in high-profile cultural exhibitions and symposia, showing commitment and seriousness in approaching sculptural practice.

"Open-minded people find inspiration everywhere" is one of his philosophical approaches.

Reality itself is the greatest source of inspiration. His passions are: wild animals (sensitive to endangered species) and trees. His goal is to showcase the beauty of nature.
