Description from the seller
Directly from the studio of "The Pop Factory". Giclée on 370 g cotton canvas. hand signed.
POP: A wordplay, a lifestyle, a generational term, a new artistic concept?
POP ART: The essence of an extensive cultural movement that begins in the sixties?
Pop is a clever, ironic and critical slogan, a reply to the slogans of mass media whose stories make history, whose aesthetics shape the paintings and the image of the moment, and whose model clichés influence people.
THE POP FACTORY is the art machine that sets out to cover that enormous amount of walls lacking color, sensuality, contemporary imagery, social and cultural icons, and to answer the question posed by Richard Hamilton in his work “Just what is it that makes today’s homes so different, so appealing?” : But what makes today’s homes so different, so appealing?
THE POP FACTORY: Group of artists created in Madrid in the year 2000.
Its founding members come from the fields of fashion photography, painting, sculpture and graphic design. Thus expanding its scope and launching a multidisciplinary project, managed by the artists themselves, in both its production and its distribution and sale.
All the works presented by the group, whether devised and executed by a single artist or by several of its members in collaboration, respond to a single signature: “The pop factory”; thus altering the meaning of authorship in favor of a group brand, with the aim of introducing it into art distribution channels and through the media to go beyond the public opinion of the art world, questioning the tenets of art and culture, the criteria for selecting what is or is not culture, the ways of marketing and exhibiting. Very close to the tenets of Urban Art.
“The pop factory” escapes from that bourgeois concept of art: Art for a few connoisseurs or elitist art or authorial art, etc. In the same way that hundreds of images enter daily into homes directly through press, advertising or television, art must strive to be understandable, attractive and highly affordable to have a place in a society that is increasingly moving fast.
The canvas is shipped rolled in a cardboard tube, unframed and hand signed. It comes with a certificate of authenticity.
