Description from the seller
Introduction
This auction presents a vintage Seiko Precision mechanical pocket watch with a Japanese National Railways Kansai-related case back marking.
The dial is signed “SEIKO Precision 15 Jewels” and features a highly legible white dial, large Arabic numerals, blued-style hands, a small seconds sub-dial, and the “SECOND SETTING DIAFLEX” marking. The case back is engraved with Japanese characters including “国鉄関西” and “昭39”, indicating a connection with the Kansai area of Japanese National Railways and the year Showa 39, corresponding to 1964.
This is an attractive collectible piece for enthusiasts of Japanese railway watches, Seiko pocket watches, and historical Japanese timepieces.
Historical / Era context
Seiko and Seikosha produced pocket watches that were used in Japan for railway and professional timekeeping purposes. These watches were valued for their clear dial layouts, reliable mechanical movements, and practical second-setting functions.
The “国鉄関西” marking on the case back suggests a connection with Japanese National Railways in the Kansai region. The “昭39” marking indicates Showa 39, which corresponds to 1964. Because this watch carries both railway-related markings and a Seiko Precision 15-jewel mechanical movement, it has strong historical appeal as a Japanese railway-related collectible.
Condition
The watch is in working condition at the time of listing.
