Description from the seller
LOT DESCRIPTION
Magnificent lot consisting of three limited editions from the legendary Islay distillery, Ardbeg. This lot represents a unique opportunity for collectors: it pairs a very rare and highly sought-after Committee Release (born from a legendary production "accident") with two of the most acclaimed annual limited editions from Ardbeg Day (2022 and 2024). A complete sensory journey spanning extreme fermentations, heavily toasted black malts, and historic cask finishes.
All bottles come from a private collection, stored in a temperature and humidity-controlled environment, kept upright and away from direct light.
1. Ardbeg Fermutation - Committee Release (2021/2022)
One of the most bizarre, unique, and highly collectible milestones in Ardbeg's modern history.
Type: Committee Release (Exclusive high-strength edition)
ABV: 49.4% vol.
Volume: 70 cl / 700 ml
History/Technical Notes: In November 2007, a sudden boiler breakdown at the distillery threatened to ruin an entire production run. Dr. Bill Lumsden decided against discarding the mash, instead ordering the washback lids to be left open, exposing the liquid to the Islay air. Fermentation lasted an astonishing 3 weeks (compared to the standard 72 hours). The result is a wild, incredibly peaty Ardbeg, beautifully balanced by unique citrus and herbal notes.
Packaging: Originally issued without a box (As issued without box).
2. Ardbeg Ardcore - Limited Edition (2022)
Ardbeg's famous "Punk" character spirit, released for Ardbeg Day 2022.
Type: Limited Edition (General / Commercial Release)
ABV: 46% vol.
Volume: 70 cl / 700 ml
History/Technical Notes: For the first time in the distillery's history, this single malt was distilled using Black Malt (barley heavily roasted at extremely high temperatures, typically used for brewing Stout beers). The profile is truly "hardcore": pungent peat smoke, charcoal, bitter cocoa, and a sharp kick of black pepper.
Packaging: Original box included (Original Box Included).
3. Ardbeg Spectacular - Limited Edition (2024)
The exceptional and colorful limited release presented for Ardbeg Day 2024.
Type: Limited Edition (General / Commercial Release)
ABV: 46% vol.
Volume: 70 cl / 700 ml
History/Technical Notes: A true high-wire act of wood management. This is the first Ardbeg in history to be matured in rare ex-Port casks, masterfully married with classic ex-Bourbon maturations. The profile showcases a spectacular contrast between the rich sweetness of red fruits, plums, and leather (imparted by the Port) and Ardbeg's signature maritime peat smoke.
Packaging: Original box included (Original Box Included).
CONDITION REPORT
Fill Level: Into neck / Top shoulder (Perfect, as bottled).
Labels Condition: Excellent, fully intact, no scratches or signs of moisture.
Capsules Condition: Intact, original seal, completely untampered.
Boxes Condition: Ardcore and Spectacular boxes are in Mint condition (perfect, no creases or dents).
