Herbert Zangs, Pinselabwicklung, an original acrylic painting from 1980 in red, 109 by 83 cm, in excellent condition and unsigned, sold with a frame.
Description from the seller
You have here the opportunity to purchase an original painting by Herbert Zangs from the artist's estate with a certificate.
The so-called brush handling (Pinselabwicklung) probably originated around 1980. In keeping with his preference for found and recycled materials, Zangs here presumably used red packing paper, which he applied monochromatically with white paint, laid out horizontally.
The light color undulates from one side to the other. Sometimes more and less opaque and differently densely grouped, the composition appears minimalist and light./p>
The painting, in very good condition, is finely framed. Behind museum glass from Schott, the work is securely mounted. A viewing window in the back wall reveals the estate stamp.
A second painting, wonderfully corresponding by the use of the same reddish paper, with identical framing, is currently also for sale — ideal to set the two works in relation to each other and present them as a pair.
Pinselabwicklungen
In the early 1980s Zangs developed a new form of expression—the brush handling. The name also describes the method: the brush dipped in paint is rolled evenly across the picture carrier or pressed onto it. These works bring the effect of color back to the center of Zangs' oeuvre.
Mostly monochrome, the direction of the application of color and the color gradient create a striking composition. In the successive repetition and the minimal variance of chance, a wonderful rhythm emerges. Denser areas appear at the beginning when the brush is still saturated with paint, and later there is thinning of the color and a fresh start.
The unique piece bears on the reverse the stamp of the artist's estate, which was initially managed by Doris Kemmler, the artist's sister. Today this estate is held by Galerie Maulberger, Munich.
The important German artist has, in recent years, received steadily greater appreciation, which is reflected not least in the prices.
There are differing expert opinions on the authenticity of Herbert Zangs works. We rely on the expertise of Galerie Maulberger.
The work has been included in the Herbert Zangs Estate Archive. The written certificate of authenticity from Galerie Maulberger will be provided to the buyer free of charge.
