Description from the seller
Stanca Dumitrescu is a multidisciplinary visual artist from Bucharest, trained at the Fine Arts High School and University. She is the daughter of painter Zamfir Dumitrescu and the granddaughter of master artist Ion Pacea, a lineage reflected in her refined sense of colour and composition. Her abstract works and mixed‑media pieces are held in private collections in Romania and abroad.
“Diary” is an abstract expressionist artwork created through spontaneous gestures, multiple layers of color, handwritten fragments, and expressive interventions with wax crayon. The composition combines text, symbols, and the energy of color into a visual language that recalls the pages of a personal diary — a space of thoughts, dreams, questions, and self-discovery.
The fragments of Spanish text integrated into the composition speak about life as an open page, one that each of us has the freedom to write according to our own dreams, choices, values, and personal life story. The artwork is an invitation to embrace authenticity, to have the courage to choose one’s own path, and to create a life that truly reflects who we are.
The contrast between the upper section, contemplative and filled with handwritten fragments, drawings, and personal signs, and the intense green field in the lower section, full of vitality and movement, suggests the transition from reflection to action, from intention to lived experience. The red line separating these two realms becomes a symbolic boundary between the inner world and the reality we choose to create.
This is a unique, handmade mixed-media artwork created with acrylic paints and wax crayon on canvas, protected with a final varnish that ensures the durability and preservation of the colors over time.
The canvas was originally stretched on a stretcher frame and was later carefully removed to allow safer and more efficient international shipping. The edges are prepared for re-stretching on a frame. The artwork will be delivered rolled and carefully packaged to ensure its protection and safety during transport.
Through the balance between the sensitivity of the text and the strength of the pictorial gesture, “Diary” integrates harmoniously into both contemporary minimalist interiors and more classical spaces, where the dialogue between modern abstract art and traditional elements creates an elegant and sophisticated contrast.
Due to natural variations of light during the photography of the artwork, slight differences in tone may appear compared to the actual piece. Color perception may vary slightly depending on the lighting conditions of the space where the artwork is displayed. The artwork is sold unframed; images showing it framed are provided solely as presentation suggestions and display ideas.
