AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Complete works of William Shakespeare in the translation by Willy Courteaux - Meulenhoff/Manteau - 11 volumes - 3648 pages - In perfect mint condition (unread)
According to Hugo Claus the very best translation: "When I translate Shakespeare, Willy Courteaux sits on my shoulder."
Tom Lanoye: "Playwrights, directors, actors, adapters... When it comes to Shakespeare, everyone consults 'The Bible of Courteaux'. His clear and enlightening translations already formed my guide when making Ten Oorlog."

William Shakespeare (1564 - 1616) was an English poet, writer and actor. He is regarded as one of the most influential writers of all time. He grew up in Stratford-upon-Avon, a town in the midlands of England. At the age of eighteen he married Anne Hathaway with whom he had three children. In April 1953 Shakespeare published his long narrative poem Venus and Adonis. The edition, with nine reprints, was a great success. The best-known plays that William Shakespeare wrote are Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth and King Lear. After 1601 he wrote less and less, partly due to a new generation of writers who introduced a new style.
