Description from the seller
Lithographed tin box "Dutch Elephant Extract" Franck - 1930s/1950s - Vintage Advertising.
Splendid and iconic rectangular tin lithographed box from the era, produced for the famous Franck company (National Industry of coffee substitutes - Milan). This container originally housed the Dutch Elephant Extract, a famous preparation based on sugar cane molasses, very widespread in Italy in the post-war period as an additive or substitute for coffee. The object is a classic example of historical advertising hoarding and early 20th-century exotism. The lid features a refined geometric decoration in Art Deco style and the trompe-l'oeil illustration of the product's original packaging. The four sides of the box display a suggestive naturalistic scene with a family of Asian elephants immersed in the jungle. A piece of great historical and decorative charm, perfect for collectors of vintage advertising ephemera or as a retro interior decor accessory.
The item is sold as is.
