Description from the seller
There is only one in the world - Edition 1/1
With this square-format artwork, Popsan orchestrates a virtuosic mashup of urban art and pop icons. A rat — Banksy’sfetish creature — wearing a policeman’s cap and a Basquiat-style crown, embraces Andy Warhol’s mythical banana, stamped with its famous “Peel slowly and see.” Around it fly the references: Basquiat’s tag “SAMO,” a wink to speculative art markets (“$6.2M,” echoing the banana sold for millions). A unique piece, entirely hand-painted.
The visual force of the composition lies in the contrast between the detailed, halftone-like rendering of the rat, treated like a pop serigraphy, and the graffiti-rich electric blue background: crowns, bolts, splashes and spontaneous lettering. Three giants interlock here — Banksy for the cheeky rat, Warhol for the banana, Basquiat for the crown and SAMO.
The impact of the work rests on its delightful irony: by entrusting the most coveted symbols of the art market to a rat dressed as a policeman, Popsan gently mocks speculation, authority, and the value of art itself. A pop manifesto, clever and irreverent.
A striking, colorful, and witty piece, ideal for adding a pop, urban, and decidedly offbeat touch to a designer and collector’s interior.

About the Studio:
Atelier Joconde is a studio of artists united around a living, plural contemporary creation. Set up like a genuine hub of artistic production, the studio operates both in collective creation and in individual approaches, depending on projects and works. Atelier Joconde is also a family venture. Le Yack, a contemporary figurative painter, develops a narrative and introspective body of work with cinematic and realistic influences. By his side, Medsan, oriented toward pop art painting, explores color, modern iconography and visual culture. Finally, Neo Pablo engages in a more instinctive pursuit, blending abstract art, art brut, and figurative abstraction. Each work is conceived, produced, and followed within the studio, with a shared artistic standard and an identity of its own for each artist.
