18 kt yellow gold pocket watch, monopusher chronograph with minute repeater – Late 19th century

Refined and rare Savonette-style pocket watch in 18 kt yellow gold, likely produced between the late 19th and early 20th century (circa 1890-1910), featuring a prestigious combination of complications: monopusher chronograph and minute repeater.

Free of marks on the dial and movement, the watch represents a valuable expression of vintage Swiss haute horlogerie, when numerous specialized manufacture houses produced complex movements for important retailers.

The 18 kt yellow gold case, diameter 58 mm excluding the crown, presents the classic Savonette configuration with front cover and double back cover. The gross total weight is 133.8 g. Inside the covers there are gold hallmarks and service engravings, including one dated 30-1-16, presumably referring to a prior maintenance intervention carried out on January 30, 2016.

The white dial, likely enamel, is embellished with black Roman numerals, peripheral chemin de fer minute track, and a small seconds subdial at 6 o’clock. The elegant engraved Louis XV-style gold hands add further charm to the ensemble. The dial is in generally good condition, with a slight imperfection visible on the edge near 3 o’clock.

The manual-wind mechanical movement is functioning and demonstrates a high degree of complexity. The watch is equipped with a minute repeater, activated by a lateral slider, sounding hours, quarters, and minutes on demand. It also features a co-axial monopusher chronograph with crown at the same position, with start, stop, and reset functions operable.

The case features refined engraving along the outer edges and remains in excellent overall condition with normal and light signs of use consistent with age.

The watch comes with a box and comes from a private collection in Northern Italy.
