The history of Bitossi Ceramiche originates in the heart of Tuscany, a few kilometers from Florence: Montelupo Fiorentino, along the banks of the Arno. In 1921 Guido Bitossi founded the Manifattura Maioliche Artistiche Guido Bitossi, merging tradition with the new stylistic expressions of the present. In the 1950s, under the artistic direction of Aldo Londi, Bitossi inaugurated a new creative era, oriented toward exploration. In this stimulating context, under Londi’s leadership, in 1955 Ettore Sottsass began his collaboration with the company. An encounter that represents a turning point for Bitossi and for the design of the second half of the twentieth century. Bitossi Ceramiche is recognized as one of Italy’s historic companies par excellence of craftsmanship.
