Mid-Century Modern stool designed by Angel I. Pazmino for Muebles De Estilo, Ecuador, with a solid walnut base and an original decorative leather seat, measuring 50 cm wide, 39 cm deep and 41 cm high, in good condition with minor signs of aging and spots.

Magnificent and rare Mid-Century Modern stool. Design by Angel Pazmino for Muebles De Estilo Ecuador. Striking South American design from the 1960s. Solid walnut base with original decorative leather seat.
This wonderful Mid-Century Modern stool by Angel Pazmino for Muebles De Estilo is in very good refinished condition with minor wear consistent with age and use, preserving a beautiful patina. Everything is original.

About the artist:
Pazmino began working in his father's carpentry workshop at the age of 12. He then studied design at the School of Fine Arts in Quito. Subsequently, he opened his own studio for furniture design and production, which soon became famous for its innovative and elegant creations. Pazmino's work is often characterized by the use of high-quality woods, particularly laurel and cedar, and by hand-carved motifs that reflect the influence of pre-Columbian and colonial designs. His style is often described as both modern and traditional. Pazmino has won many prizes and awards for his design work, including the National Prize for Plastic Arts of Ecuador in 1969. His creations have been exhibited in galleries and museums around the world, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Angel Pazmino is considered one of the greatest Ecuadorian designers of the 20th century, and his work continues to influence designers and artisans worldwide.
