“Ocaso” is a piece inspired by the calm of sunset and the reflections of light on water. The composition combines turquoise tones, purples, and golds to create an enveloping, contemplative atmosphere where landscape and abstraction blend naturally.
The transparencies, light contrasts, and small details in gold leaf add depth and luminosity, making the piece subtly change depending on the light in the space where it is displayed.
About the artist:
María José Fernández (Otura, Granada, 1985) is an Andalusian painter specializing in atmospheric landscapes and nature-inspired art. She lives in La Quintería (Jaén), where she finds inspiration in southern light, the quiet of the countryside, and the emotional connection with spaces.
Self-taught since the age of 17, she develops work focused on conveying calm, contemplation, and natural beauty through compositions full of light, water, and chromatic depth.
She has participated in solo and group exhibitions, including the Federico García Lorca Cultural Center (2017), Artes Jomasa (2019), and the MundoArti Virtual Museum (2021).
