Two volumes in-8, Perles et parures, with Gavarni illustrations and Méry’s text, an 1850 illustrated first edition published by G. de Gonet, Martinon, Mme veuve Janet, bound in demi cuir rubis with gilt tooling and containing 647 pages.

Paris, G. de Gonet, Martinon, Mme veuve Janet; Leipzig, Charles Twietmeyer, [1850]. 2 volumes in-8vo, 27.5 x 18.7 cm, [1] f., 316 pp., frontispiece and 16 plates; 300 pp., frontispiece and 15 plates, half-vel gradient ruby-gilt, of the period, spine adorned with four raised nerves, general and title leaves in black morocco, boards of debossed percaline, head ruled, not trimmed, illustrated cover. Beautiful condition, one bound-in; extremely light foxing.
Original edition of these valuable illustrated works in total with two identical frontispieces and 31 copper engravings by Geoffroy after Gavarni, in the first printing. Copy complete with the general covers printed in red, in a pleasant period binding and containing the colored plates of the time, printed on vellum paper with lace-cut frames.
