Serene Gaze, 2026
Oil on canvas

Includes certificate of authenticity issued and signed by the artist
In “Serene Gaze,” Luis Enrique González captures the calm and contained beauty of a chestnut horse in a moment of stillness. The animal appears in profile, with a lowered, serene gaze, as if lost in deep thought. The soft blue-gray background envelops the figure with an atmosphere of peace and clarity.
The work stands out for its sensitivity and its ability to convey emotions through the gaze. The horse’s eyes, dark and expressive, create a direct and intimate connection with the viewer. The mane, with its soft bluish highlights, adds movement and elegance, contrasting with the warmth of the chestnut coat. Everything in the composition conveys serenity, nobility, and a deep connection to the present moment.
González achieves in this painting a poetic realism, where the soft light and the delicate tones of the background emphasize the horse’s tranquil presence. It is not an image of strength or drama, but of inner peace and subtle beauty. It is as if the horse were sharing a moment of reflection and calm with the observer.
In recent years, Luis Enrique González has developed the series “Esencias Ecuestres”, in which he portrays different horses with the aim of capturing not only their physical appearance but their essence and individual character. Each work in this collection seeks to reveal the personality and soul of each animal through light, color, and expression. “Serene Gaze” is part of this series, distinguished by its emotional realism and its ability to generate a deep and contemplative connection between the viewer and the horse.
A piece of great sensitivity and elegance, ideal for collectors seeking contemporary figurative art with depth, atmosphere, and a strong poetic charge.
The work is carefully shipped protected in a transport tube to ensure its perfect conservation.
Artist Statement — Luis Enrique González
My work is a constant dialogue between light and form, where oil painting becomes a means to explore the emotional and symbolic depth of reality. I am interested in nature and the human figure not only as visual motifs but as living territories charged with stories, silences, and tensions. Through realism, I seek to reveal what hides in the everyday: fragility, strength, persistence, and the beauty that manifest in gestures, in matter, and in the spaces we inhabit.
Chiaroscuro is, for me, a tool of thought. Through contrast, I find the internal structure of each image, the atmosphere that allows color to breathe and become protagonist. I work with meticulous observation, hoping that each brushstroke preserves the sensitivity of the moment while also bearing a permanence that transcends the temporality of the represented object.
My pieces sit at a crossroads between academic tradition and a contemporary gaze, where rigorous technique coexists with a personal expressive search. I paint because I find in oil a space of revelation: a way of understanding the world and at the same time reinventing it through light, texture, and color.
Cuban visual artist specializing in oil painting on canvas, with a realistic approach marked by technical precision, mastery of chiaroscuro, and a deep interest in nature and the human figure. His work combines solid academic training with an aesthetic search focused on detail, light, and the expressive force of color.
