Histoire de Monique is a 1st edition French-language educational children's book by Lucienne Van de Caveye, published in Bruges by Desclée de Brouwer et Cie. in 1927, in a softback binding, 24 pages, 23 x 30 cm, in very good condition.

A rare antiquarian educational book, printed in Belgium. Created as a story based language textbook using "Monique" as a narrative character to teach French grammar and vocabulary.
Subtitled on the title page: "Pour apprendre le français à mes petites amies Canadiennes, Anglaises, et Americaines". (Translation: "To help my little Canadian, English, and American friends learn French").
Softback book in grey paper covers, with illustration to front cover. The book is very clean and fresh inside, with just light age toning to prelims. Covering everything from Monique's physical appearance, and what time she gets up in the morning, to her prayers, education, her toys and her adventures! Accompanied by simple b/w illustrations.
24 pages. 23 x 30 cm.
The author, Lucienne Van de Caveye, received the following awards for her other work 'Petites Messines' (published in 1926):
- Prix de l'Académie (Academy Prize)
- Prix de la langue française (French Language Prize)
- Médaille de vermeil (gold medal)
