Description from the seller
Ceramic bookends “Stylized Chickens” in the style of Catherine Hunter – Pair
Description
Charming pair of glazed ceramic bookends representing stylized chickens with clean, contemporary lines. Their minimalist silhouette, combined with a superb speckled turquoise glaze, evokes the work of British ceramist Catherine Hunter, known for her animal creations with soft, expressive forms.
Each piece features a particularly successful sculptural design: a geometric body serving as a support, topped with a long elegant neck ending in a chicken or rooster head with deliberately simplified details. The speckled turquoise glaze contrasts harmoniously with the coral red highlights of the comb and wattle as well as the ochre beak.
Beyond their practical function as bookends, these objects are true decorative sculptures that can also be displayed alone on a shelf, a bookcase, or a sideboard.
Their timeless aesthetic fits equally well in a contemporary, Scandinavian, country-chic interior or in a collection of 20th-century art ceramics.
