This is a wonderful landscape from the early 19th century, English school, with an unreadable signature at the bottom left (see photo). It depicts a landscape and is from the early Romantic period; it probably reflects the attention given by Constable to English countryside landscapes in the early 19th century.
Surely it is a work of excellent schooling, and the photographs do not fully convey the beauty and intensity of the colors of this beautiful landscape, which is paired with another of identical size in this auction. Here, unlike the other landscape, we are for some aspects still in a seventeenth- or eighteenth-century style, given the presence of the tower and the glimpse with the tree on the right.
The dimensions of the work, which is an oil on canvas and features dense craquelure, are 101 cm by 75 cm including the frame, while 76 cm by 50 cm without the frame.
The work does not require restoration and the frame is original and dates from the 19th century.
