A pair of Oosode（大袖）, the wide sleeves of a suit of Japanese Samurai armour (甲冑）
This is a component known as the ‘Oosode’ from a set of armor in the late Edo/Meiji -period revival style. It consists of a pair — one for each side — and is attached to the shoulder area of the torso, acting as a shield to protect the shoulders and upper arms from attacks by arrows and swords.
