Description from the seller
THERE IS ONLY ONE IN THE WORLD - EDITION 1/1
With this square-format work, Medsan takes us into the heart of Japanese folklore. A magnificent nine-tailed fox (kitsune) rises from moonlit waters near a curved wooden bridge, its nine tails alight with a golden will-o'-the-wisp (kitsunebi). On the bridge, travelers in kimono and straw hats, surprised by the full-moon light beneath the silhouette of a pagoda, freeze at the apparition. This unique splash transforms a legend into a pure moment of magic.
The visual impact of the composition lies in its painterly treatment highlighted with shimmering gold on the tails’ flames — echoing the gold grounds of the Rinpa school — supported by a bold line and a nocturnal palette of deep blues and violets. The scene revisits the great tradition of yokai prints, those supernatural creatures immortalized by masters such as Utagawa Kuniyoshi and Tsukioka Yoshitoshi.
The artwork’s impact rests on the meeting between the human world and the realm of spirits: the kyūbi no kitsune, celestial fox of legend — messenger of the deity Inari, master of illusion — embodies mystery and metamorphosis. The travelers’ astonishment stages the thin veil separating the ordinary from the miraculous. An entrancing and dreamlike vision.
A poetic, mysterious and refined piece, perfect for adding a legendary, golden, and definitively evocative touch to a design interior or a collector’s space.

About the Studio:
Atelier Joconde is a collective of artists united around a living and plural contemporary creation. Located as a true artistic production space, the studio operates both in collective creation and in individual approaches, depending on projects and works. Atelier Joconde is also a family venture. Le Yack, a contemporary figurative painter, develops a narrative and introspective body of work with cinematic and realistic influences. Beside him, Medsan, oriented toward pop art painting, explores color, modern iconography and visual culture. Finally, Neo Pablo engages in a more instinctive quest, blending abstract art, brut art and figurative abstraction. Each work is conceived, created and followed within the studio, with a shared artistic standard and an identity unique to each artist.
