Medsan's 40 × 40 cm giclée titled Mechagodzilla (メカゴジラ) - UNIQUE WORK, 2026, edition 1/1, hand-signed, produced in France in excellent condition, depicting Pop Art culture with a snowy Edo landscape and Mechagodzilla mounted on a wooden frame.
Description from the seller
THERE IS ONLY ONE IN THE WORLD - EDITION 1/1
With this square-format artwork, Medsan signs a spectacular anachronistic mashup, telescoping classical Japanese prints with the kaiju cinema universe. In an Edo landscape in the snow — snow-capped pines, a teahouse, Mount Fuji on the horizon — a chrome and magenta mechanical giant unleashes incandescent rays (« KRA-KOOM! ») that set a roof on fire, while figures in kimono flee in terror. This unique splash brings science fiction right into the middle of the 19th century.
The visual force of the composition lies in the fidelity of its ukiyo-e aesthetic: fine linework, snow-laden pines, a gradient sky, and the iconic silhouette of Mount Fuji, in the tradition of Hiroshige and Hokusai’s winter scenes. On this serene scene, Mechagodzilla, the robotic kaiju of Toho studios, bursts forth, accompanied by a comic-book sound effect (« KRA-KOOM! ») borrowed from Pop Art — a delicious clash of eras and registers.
The impact of the work comes from its humor and its breath-taking effect: the timeless serenity of the print pulverized by a 1970s sci-fi monster. Medsan plays with the contrast between the contemplative refinement of ukiyo-e and the explosive energy of pop culture, in a playful nod to two pillars of Japanese imagery.
A fun, graphic, and spectacular piece, ideal for adding a pop, offbeat, and decidedly contemporary touch to a collector’s interior — a favorite with lovers of Japanese culture as well as monster cinema.

About the Atelier:
Atelier Joconde is a studio of artists brought together around a living and plural contemporary creation. Set up like a genuine center for artistic production, the studio operates both in collaborative creation and in individual approaches, depending on projects and works. Atelier Joconde is also a family venture. Le Yack, a contemporary figurative painter, develops a narrative and introspective body of work influenced by cinematic and realist elements. By his side, Medsan, oriented toward pop art painting, explores color, modern iconography, and visual culture. Finally, Neo Pablo engages in a more instinctive search, blending abstract art, art brut, and figurative abstraction. Each work is conceived, realized, and supervised within the atelier, with a shared artistic standard and an identity of its own for each artist.
