Description from the seller
Il Trionfo dell’Ombra — Slasky
In this work, Slasky builds a visual short circuit between the theatricality of Italian Baroque and the absolute silence of American abstraction of the twentieth century.
From the depths emerges the work Il Trionfo delle Arti by Carlo Innocenzo Carlone, transformed into a spectral presence: the figures, once immersed in light and rising movement, are darkened and frozen in a suspended dimension, almost archaeological.
To interrupt this pictorial memory, a red horizontal band intervenes, an explicit reference to the spiritual tension of Mark Rothko. Not a erasure, but an emotional fracture: color replaces narration, the chromatic field takes the place of illusionistic perspective.
If Carlone drew the gaze toward the sky, Slasky makes it retract back into itself. The sacred Baroque thus becomes a contemporary, mute and introspective liturgy.
The work cancels the historical distance between Rococo and Abstract Expressionism, fusing flesh, cloud and pigment into a single surface of tension and memory.
