Description from the seller
Title: Symphony in Blue)
Artist: M. Perone
Technique: Oil on canvas
Dimensions: 40 x 30 cm
In this fascinating oil-on-canvas work of small, intimate dimensions, the artist M. Perone reinterprets the classic theme of the female figure in a distinctly modern key, where color and mystery become the true protagonists of the canvas.
The painting depicts a woman elegantly seated, captured in a moment of suspended, intimate contemplation. The visual and emotional focal point of the composition is the magnetic use of a vibrant, deep cobalt blue, which clothes the subject entirely through a sumptuous long dress and a large-brimmed hat. It is the hat, strategically lowered over the face, that hides the eyes and facial details, revealing only the outline of the lips and a gold earring; this compositional device gives the figure an aura of sophisticated anonymity and timeless magnetic charm.
The model's posture is studied and aristocratic: the left arm is raised, with the elbow ideally resting on the knee and the hand brought to the face in a reflective gesture, adorned with a coordinated set of bracelets. From the rich drapery of the skirt, which opens in a dynamic play of light and shadow at the lower part, emerges a leg that reveals a sophisticated high-heeled shoe in shiny gold. This metallic detail creates a luminous, warm counterpoint, harmonizing perfectly with the jewelry and breaking the magnetic coldness of the blue.
From a technical standpoint, Perone's style is distinguished by a tactile, compact brushwork. The strokes are broad, confident, and energetic, especially evident in the satin reflections of the dress and in the texture of the hat. The background is deliberately abstract and deconstructed, rendered in neutral and earthy tones ranging from beige to taupe, with touches of white and ochre that make the figure stand out by simultaneous contrast. A soft dark shadow projects to the right of the subject, defining spatiality and giving three-dimensionality and volume to the entire scene.
The work is a study of grace, secrecy, and the expressive power of color, capable of evoking an atmosphere of luxurious melancholy and timeless femininity within any contemporary art collection.
