Description from the seller
Lancel Paris “Barostar” – Elegant vintage French aneroid barometer (1960s)
Refined vintage aneroid barometer signed by the famous French maison Lancel Paris, model Barostar. This instrument combines the high precision of French meteorological craftsmanship with a design strikingly elegant and typical of the 1960s.
As visible in the general photos, the barometer is housed inside a splendid circular case in dark blue/night color (a deep, sophisticated shade, finished with a texture reminiscent of leather), enriched by a shiny gold frame that encloses the dial. At the top, a gold suspension ring allows easy wall mounting, shown here attached to an elegant fleur-de-lis support.
The silver dial, finely satin-finished, bears at the center a stylish compass rose and displays the classic meteorological terms in French written in a refined cursive font (Tempête, Pluie ou Vent, Variable, Beau Temps, Très Sec), along with the lower inscription "BAROSTAR - Instrument de Précision".
A perfect decorative accessory for professional studies, libraries, nautical-themed environments, or to enrich a collection of scientific instruments and classy vintage curios.
Condition of the item:
The item presents generally good aesthetic condition, fully consistent with its age and use.
There are light and natural signs of wear, including some modest oxidation and small scratches on the gilded bezel.
On the lower part of the blue casing cladding there is a small defect/surface mark, shown in close-up in the macro image image_dffde4.jpg. This mark is minor in size and does not affect the front aesthetics nor the piece’s great collectible value.
Please study the photographic gallery carefully, which constitutes an integral and essential part of the description of the lot’s condition.
A piece of strong vintage charm that marries the history of the Lancel Paris brand with a timeless aesthetic.
