Marcel Harang (XX) - Pont de Chamesson

Marcel HARANG is a French painter, born in Paris in 1910 (according to some biographies from auction houses). He is said to have studied at the Académie Julian in Paris. He painted landscapes, views of Paris (notably Montmartre), Norman villages, seascapes, and rural scenes. This painting is representative of a river landscape with a calm river, two small boats, a stone bridge and a village in the background. The palette is soft, with greens and bluish grays, in a realistic and atmospheric style. The signature “M. Harang” is visible at the bottom right and appears consistent with those seen on other works attributed to this artist.
