Description from the seller

A Quran leaf, Surah Yunus (Chapter 10), v.45-58, Bihar, India dated cAH850/AD1450. This is a finely executed leaf from a dispersed manuscript, containing verses from chapter 10, Jonah, recto and verse, written in confident black naskh on burnished paper. The text is laid out in 17 lines, vocalised with red and black diacriticals and punctuated by gold rosette verse-markers. 'Allah' is in gold throughout.. A circular marginal medallion in gold, black and blue ink inscribed with the folio number 116 in Eastern Arabic numerals marks a textual division (most likely a tenth-part or juz' indicator ; in this case v.55.

The passage addresses themes of resurrection, divine reckoning, and the steadfastness of the mountains and heavens, concluding with the verse on the sounding of the trumpet., which marks the boundary between this world and the next. This is a metaphor for disbelievers who doubting the Day of Judgement will be confronted with its undeniable reality once the trumpet sounds, causing the annihilation of creation as we know it, and the dead are raised for their deeds.

The manuscript is notable for its clear Bihari/Sultinate-period scribal tradition of the C15th. There is some minor water damage, hence being labelled as 'fair' condition.
