Ralf Altrieth, Is this me? - XXL, acrylic on canvas, 150 × 120 cm, 2018, original, signed by the artist with a certificate of authenticity, in excellent condition, shipped direct from the artist in France.
Description from the seller
A tender and dreamlike painting, one that prefers to discover itself rather than define itself.
At first glance, Ralf Altrieth's painting seems to burst forth in a free and jubilant momentum. Then the gaze lingers—and gradually reveals a more complex world, populated by unexpected characters, moving shapes and unlikely associations. Nothing is fixed. The work evolves continually with distance, light and the time spent before it.
In this universe, the boundary between abstraction, figuration and imagination remains deliberately unstable. Silhouettes appear, stories seem to begin, then transform immediately. The gaze is engaged, set in motion. Seeing becomes an active, almost playful experience.
But beyond its immediate energy, Ralf Altrieth's works settle durably into space. They command attention through their density. Through their presence. And by that rare ability to transform the atmosphere of the place in which they take their place.

CRITIQUE ET PRESSE:
"In this sense, the painterly poems of Ralf Altrieth are a pure childish chant. From the crucible of improvisation he brings forth a pristine world made of spontaneous joys and strong impulses."
— Dr. Friedhelm Häring, art historian and museum director
"His writing by gesture and color describes a world open to new voices and to experiences never attempted. His canvases and works on paper demonstrate that painting remains a major expression of the contemporary scene."
