Description from the seller
Edo Period Kozuka — Phoenix Amid Clouds
A finely crafted Edo-period kozuka (小柄) — a decorative sword fitting traditionally carried within the scabbard of a samurai sword. The handle is worked in shakudo-style metal with an all-over nanako (fish-roe) ground, hand-punched dot by dot across the entire surface. Against this dense, rhythmic ground, a Oni soars amid auspicious clouds with exceptional detail. The reverse carries further cloud and scroll
The blade retains its original form, with age-related surface rust and patina consistent with period use.
