Description from the seller

MOTEL is a 70 x 100 cm painting by Flavia Delgado inspired by the aesthetic of American roads, classic desert motels, and vintage mid-20th-century travel signs.

The work depicts a red convertible parked in front of a highway motel under a bright blue sky pierced by tall palm trees. The scene conveys a sense of freedom, nostalgia, and adventure, evoking grand journeys along endless highways and the cinematic American imaginaries.

Flavia Delgado combines influences from pop art, retro illustration, and classic American travel posters, using bold black outlines, flat vibrant colors, and a clean, graphically strong composition. The result recalls both vintage roadside advertisements and the visual universe of classic North American cinema.

The color palette, dominated by electric blues, intense reds, deep blacks, and sandy tones, creates a strong visual contrast and a warm, luminous atmosphere. The classic car becomes a symbol of movement, independence, and adventurous spirit.

MOTEL is a work that celebrates American vintage culture, aimless travel, and the iconic aesthetic of desert roadways, ideal for contemporary interiors, creative spaces, or collections inspired by retro and cinematic imagery.

Seller's Story

I present a pictorial work line strongly linked to illustration and artistic poster design. My works combine the language of classic poster art with the plastic freedom of contemporary painting: flat colors, defined contours, direct scenes, and a clear narrative sense. My work dialogues with the tradition of 20th-century poster art, especially with the universe of Art Deco and European and North American advertising posters, where authors like A. M.. Cassandre, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, and Leonetto Cappiello used synthetic imagery and color for visual impact. There are also affinities with European comic graphics and the clear line, from Hergé to modern editorial illustration. In my paintings, I depict interiors, architectures, figures, and travel scenes—such as roads, vintage cars, or landscapes—approached from a graphic perspective reminiscent of posters and illustrated books, but transferred to the realm of painting on paper and canvas. I aim for each image to function like a frame or a narrative poster, capable of suggesting a broader story without needing to explain it.
