Description from the seller
New Series – Lost souls
David Law
Photographer Artist – Creator of contemporary images
Multidisciplinary photographer artist, author and musician, David Law develops work focused on gaze, presence and the perception of the image in urban space. He first became known for a series devoted to window mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and overlays. This exploration of gaze and presence gave rise to an art book published in 2021. Later intrigued by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he continues this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a haunting, almost living presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection.
New Series – Swarms
This series explores the invisible link that unites beings, where each face is born from a multitude of individual presences. Composed of thousands of silhouettes or birds in motion, these works evoke the strength of the collective and the singularity of every destiny. The shapes gather, disperse and transform, drawing a poetic cartography of humanity. The flight of birds symbolizes the universal aspiration to freedom, to hope and to self-transcendence. Between matter and movement, these compositions invite contemplation of our belonging to a larger whole than ourselves.
Edition & Manufacturing
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist’s proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are produced on aluminum with a built-in back mount. Printing on bright white vinyl, adhered between two aluminum plates, with UV and humidity-resistant soft laminate, guaranteeing excellent durability, long-term color stability and a modern, contemporary appearance.
Career
Since 2014, David Law participates in around twenty contemporary art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the appointed photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Parallel to his visual activity, he develops work as an author and musician, including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the band FRENZY.
