Description from the seller
Historical pendant with rose-cut diamonds in silver and gold
Elegant historical pendant made of silver with a thin gold back, secured by means of XRF analysis. The refined design is richly set with rose-cut diamonds and has a graceful, hanging form that is typical of jewelry from the 19th century.
The pendant is set with 27 rose-cut diamonds varying in size from about 0.9 to 3.6 mm. At the center is a striking pear-shaped rose-cut diamond of about 5.6 x 4.3 mm, which forms the centerpiece of the design.
The current bail has been added later and therefore is not perfectly straight relative to the pendant. Based on the construction and finish, it is plausible that this piece originally belonged to a larger jewel, such as a brooch, and was converted into a pendant at a later stage.
Specifications
* Material: silver with gold back (XRF tested)
* Weight: 4.5 grams
* Dimensions: 37.4 x 15.4 mm
* Diamonds:
* 27 rose-cut diamonds of approx. 0.9–3.6 mm
* 1 central pear-shaped rose-cut diamond of approx. 5.6 x 4.3 mm
* Total number of diamonds: 27
This charming pendant combines the romantic appearance of rose-cut diamonds with the craftsmanship of historic jewelry and represents a special collectible for lovers of antique jewelry.
Condition
Good historical condition with signs of wear appropriate for age and use. The current pendant eye is added later and therefore sits slightly skewed. It is likely a piece of jewelry that was assembled in the past from elements of a larger jewel, probably a brooch. For an accurate impression of the condition, please refer to the photos.
