Iñaki Barrenechea, a self-taught artist, painter and sculptor with training as a technical engineer and a professional background linked to construction. He began his work in figurative watercolor, later evolving to oil where he develops a more personal language. From painting he moves to sculpture with an architectural appearance, suggesting impossible structures, bridges or assemblies that seem suspended in an instant before movement, in which rigorous construction and a subtle poetic dimension coexist, developing an abstract work of geometric origin. He works with brass and stone, creating spatial pieces that are symmetric, unstable where structure and balance dialogue with a vision close to magical realism, just as he does in painting, incorporating a lyrical dimension. Matter seems to challenge its own weight; within the density of stone he studies light and void itself. He seeks balance and tension in stone and brass.
