Description from the seller

This painting presents a nude female figure seen from behind, facing a mirror, resolved with soft, atmospheric painting; the body emerges through warm blocks, glazes, and barely hinted outlines, while the mirror returns a elusive presence, almost a mental reflection rather than optical.
The surface lets you perceive the texture of the canvas and a loose brushwork, sometimes blurred, sometimes more decisive in the essential contours; the overall effect is that of lyrical expressionist painting: the interest is not anatomical precision, but the atmosphere and the feeling of the moment.
The work recalls the tradition of domestic nudes of the 20th century, with atmospheric affinities that can remind one of certain post-impressionist and European expressionist results: emotional color, unconcluded contours, space barely suggested, centrality of the human figure as a vehicle of interiority.

ALBERTO MORELLI
Self-taught painter born in Castagneto Carducci (Livorno) in 1944, he lives and works in Rosignano Solvay (Livorno).
His artistic activity began in the early 1960s with neo-figurative works, later moving to informal, optical-art and abstract creations.
From a note by A.R.F. (Arte Ricerca Firenze):
Hidden in the green of Rosignano lies Morelli’s studio. We arrived there on a rainy day and were immediately welcomed into his garden by his sculptures, the "sunflowers", made of steel and iron. There he lives, the artist and the humble man, self-taught, capable of sensing the relationships between color and the objects that surround us in daily life, and with this affinity build works in which fragments of boats abandoned by the tide, plates found with the wear of time on them, iron stained by the flame of the oxyacetylene torch, the filings of iron, the shining sands brought by the sea, overlap.
This is how, for example, the same earthy material he has stepped on since childhood is placed in openness in installations, sometimes in twelve panels, representing fragments of childhood memories, and the same desire to represent the bond with one’s origins, a bond that each of us carries inside as an inseparable precious chest.
Thus he is an alchemist capable of mixing the right ingredients to reach an aesthetic result. A master able to enchant you with his work, and his studio a fascinating place to get lost in watching his paintings.
