Description from the seller
Original painting, 2026, hand-signed, artist Olaf Kaulen, born 1968 in Heide, Holstein, living in Hamburg since 1999. After a long hiatus for health reasons, now active again.
Drawn freehand with acrylic paints on DIN A4 photo paper, glued onto a black Foamboard DIN A3, thickness 5 mm. Sticks/colors used: Ecoline Brush Pens and Posca acrylic markers. Protective coating: acrylic satin-matte.
The keyword fashion was chosen because fetichism was not an option.
Depiction of a lady, or her legs in thigh-high leather designer boots (in English it sounds sexier than “thigh-high leather boots from the shoemaker”). The aesthetics of the portrayed figure transitions in the artist to a magical attraction and resembles an obsession.
Olaf Kaulen, born 1968 in Heide/Holstein, living in Hamburg since 1999, after a long hiatus for health reasons now active again, self-proclaimed fetishist.
He paints especially when these motifs are used, with full devotion and obsession. As the main subject (as in this offered work) or as an unobtrusive part of the painting, this inclination is unmistakable.
For example with a reference to the painting by Dali, which O. Kaulen was extremely inspired by even before his own surreal period, so that later in 1998 he incorporated parts of the original, replaced Dali’s wife and muse “Gala” with his then-partner and muse, added a new leather sofa (from the Quelle catalog) and his partner’s leather boots, and of course brought the work to the 80x100 cm canvas with his own signature and the note “after Dali’s original of 1944…” in about 120–150 hours of work in oil paints.
Further photos of paintings with similar representations and newspaper clippings from earlier exhibitions and openings are also attached.
