Description from the seller
Studio Delu. (1976) – Gaston and the Stradivarius
Shadow Frame 27 × 27 cm
Through this original creation, Studio Delu pays homage to one of the most endearing characters of Franco-Belgian comics: Gaston Lagaffe, the brilliantly catastrophic inventor imagined by André Franquin.
This composition stages an iconic sequence where Gaston pursues his passion for music with his famous Stradivarius, to the great despair of those around him. Extracted from the comic and reinterpreted in relief, the scene leaves the page to become a true collectible object.
The contrast between Gaston’s good intentions and the disastrous consequences of his initiatives perfectly summarizes the spirit of the series. Between absurd humor, improbable inventions, and the poetry of everyday life, this work captures the richness of the universe created by Franquin.
The integration of a three-dimensional figurine into the frame’s space creates a dialogue between image and volume, turning a reading memory into a visual experience. Studio Delu thus continues its exploration of major icons of European popular culture and their place in our collective memory.
