Description from the seller
“The Lessons of the Gaffe No. 6 If it resists, practice hypnosis” – Limited edition (100 copies) - New collection 2026
Edition number: 04/100
Artist: SKE
Publisher: Atelier Montmartre Paris
Art paper 300 g – ISO A3 format – Signed, numbered – Certificate included
In this scene, SKE orchestrates a daring and effective subversion by having the Franco-Belgian comic universe dialogue with the visual codes of iconic advertising. Gaston Lagaffe’s intrusion into this unexpected environment immediately creates a visual and narrative tension full of irony.
The contrast works immediately: the controlled elegance of the advertising image against Gaston’s relaxed and unexpected attitude. All reinforced by the inscription “Defence of display,” which makes the scene even more tasty.
And as a nod to the original universe, all of this unfolds under the astonished gaze of Fantasio — not surprised by Gaston’s involvement, but by the terrain on which he ventures: an adult, almost provocative universe, a thousand leagues away from his habits.
“Lesson No. 6: If it resists, practice hypnosis.” A phrase with a double reading, both ironic and critical, in the pure tradition of artistic détournement.
The work is full of Easter eggs for informed enthusiasts:
At the top of the wall, a discreet pixel art pays tribute to Invader, emblematic figure of international street art.
On the floor, a Montana 94 spray can, a must-have reference for urban artists, anchors the scene in a decidedly contemporary aesthetic.
The inscription “Defence of display” reinforces the visual and narrative paradox, signature of engaged and mischievous works.
The graphic style, faithful to the Franco-Belgian comic universe, immediately evokes the world of Spirou and Fantasio, while injecting a urban and current dimension specific to SKE’s work. This blend of genres creates a captivating visual tension between nostalgia, popular culture, and societal critique.
A collectible piece, this work will appeal to fans of pop art, street art, vintage comics, and artistic détournement. It perfectly embodies this new generation of contemporary art that dialogues with icons of the past to better question the present.
A powerful, narrative creation that is highly recognizable, intended for collectors seeking a work that is both aesthetic, cultural, and bold.
Les Leçons de la Gaffe is a series imagined by SKE, which playfully revisits the iconic codes of Aubade campaigns and their famous “lessons.” Through a game of subversion and contrasts, the artist injects Gaston Lagaffe’s universe into an elegant and suggestive advertising aesthetic, creating a shift as unexpected as it is delicious. Each work thus becomes a revisited “lesson,” where humor, pop culture, and street art meet in a free, impertinent, and decidedly contemporary reading.

- ARTIST BIO:
SKE is a self-taught French artist with a hands-on approach who grew up in the 80s/90s culture, inspiring a large portion of his body of work.
He continually explores new techniques: acrylic painting, collage, stenciling, graffiti, urban installations, and digital art. His dynamic, expressive compositions, often with double meanings, blend the raw energy of street art with the visual impact of pop art.
After an exceptional 2025, SKE’s market value has risen notably. Winner of the first prize at the Urban Master contest (2023), then named Revelation of the Year at the Color Jam Challenge (2025).
SKE was selected as “Artist of the Month” in October, and he also benefited from a feature in an American art magazine confirming his international recognition.
His works have already been exhibited in major venues across Europe, the United States, and Asia, consolidating his position in the contemporary art scene. Simultaneously, SKE also makes his mark in the digital art market, a major trend of the past couple of years, increasing the appeal of his creations to collectors.
Icons of popular culture, bold graphics, and texture plays characterize a style now indispensable.
SKE is unquestionably an artist to follow, to start or enrich a collection with rising value.
Laureate & Award-winning Artist – Pop Art & Contemporary Street Art
AN UNIVERSE BETWEEN HERITAGE AND MODERNITY SKE’s work fits into a prestigious lineage. His line carries the visual efficiency of Keith Haring and Andy Warhol, while incorporating subversion by Banksy or the pioneer Blek le Rat. His works bridge eras: they revisit classics, not hesitating to subvert the Mona Lisa, Vermeer’s Girl with a Pearl Earring, Hokusai’s The Great Wave, or Picasso’s deconstructed forms to confront them with a modern urban aesthetic close to Mr. Brainwash or Kaws.
POP CULTURE & NOSTALGIA Drawing on the collective imagination, SKE manipulates icons from our childhood. He stages the Disney universe with figures like Mickey or Pinocchio, and the symbolic greed of Scrooge McDuck. The influence of gaming, comics, and superheroes is omnipresent: from the Nintendo universe and the iconic Game Boy, to Pokémon creatures (Pikachu, Charizard, Ash), passing through Marvel superheroes. SKE crystallizes these memories like Daniel Arsham or Takashi Murakami.
LUXURY, HYPE & CONSUMER SOCIETY In a style sometimes reminiscent of Alec Monopoly, the artist plays with codes of success and materialism. The Dollar symbol sits beside luxury and fashion logos. His canvases capture the “Hype” aesthetic: sneaker culture (Nike Air Jordan, Adidas, Off-White) and haute couture (Louis Vuitton, Hermès, Louboutin). He also integrates automotive adrenaline (Ferrari, Porsche, Bugatti, AMG) and precision watchmaking (Rolex, Tag Heuer), not to mention mass-consumption icons like Coca-Cola. It is vibrant art, with textured finishes reminiscent of Jeff Koons’ glossy surfaces or the facets of Richard Orlinski.
This work is ideal to enrich a collection or bring a dynamic touch to your interior.
