Donatello's David is a bronze statue from c. 1440, created by the Italian Renaissance sculptor Donatello.
It was the first freestanding male nude since antiquity and caused a sensation when it was unveiled.
The statue depicts the Biblical King David with his foot on the head of the beheaded giant Goliath. The androgynous, almost feminine young man with a mysterious smile is entirely naked, except for his boots and a hat adorned with a laurel wreath, a symbol of victory. In his hand he holds Goliath's sword.

De David van Donatello is een bronzen standbeeld uit ca. 1440, gemaakt door de Italiaanse renaissance-beeldhouwer Donatello. 
Het was het eerste vrijstaande mannelijk naakt sinds de oudheid en veroorzaakte daarom sensatie toen het onthuld werd.
Het standbeeld toont de Bijbelse koning David met zijn voet op het hoofd van de juist onthoofde reus Goliath. De androgyne, bijna vrouwelijke jonge man met een geheimzinnige glimlach is geheel naakt, met uitzondering van zijn laarzen en een hoed getooid met lauwerkrans, symbool van de overwinning. In zijn hand houdt hij het zwaard van Goliath.
