Richard Dömös - Touches of intimacy

This monochrome artistic image is an intimate study of human intimacy, trust and vulnerability. Radical work with a shallow depth of field isolates a key moment in the center of the composition, where soft sidelight precisely models the anatomy of the bodies, the texture of the blond hair and the line of the shoulders.

While the out-of-focus foreground with the detail of the wrist and strap defines the raw, tangible frame of the scene, the viewer’s gaze is immediately drawn to the central gesture of the hands in the upper third of the frame. These hands, resting with feeling on the chest of the lying figure, carry a strong narrative charge on the border of protective support and absolute surrender. The absence of color suppresses any period context and flips the raw moment to the plane of a timeless conceptual act, where the most important remains hidden in the emotion below the surface.
