Karl Lagasse, a renowned artist, rose to prominence in 2009 with his One Dollar sculptures, ranking in that same year among the top ten sculptors under 30 according to Artprice. In 2012, the New York publication Farameh named him as one of the fifty best contemporary artists, inspired by traditional American icons, in its book FOR WHICH IT STANDS: Americana in Contemporary Art. More recently, in 2016, during the Art Paris Art Fair, the President of the French Republic warmly congratulated Karl for his impressive 2-meter bronze sculpture, One Dollar, exhibited at the Grand Palais.

Karl’s artistic journey began at age 7 with collages, encouraged by his encounter with sculptor César Baldaccini. He then turned to tagging and graffiti in the Paris metro while remaining passionate about collages. The artist Yvaral Vasarely encouraged him to fuse his tags with his collages. In 2003, Karl prepared his first exhibition in Paris, which led to his first solo exhibition in 2006 at the Isy Brachot gallery in Brussels. In 2008, he returned to Paris with an exhibition mixing paintings, sculptures, and video elements at the Espace Pierre Cardin.

Karl particularly enjoys unveiling his works at international exhibitions. In 2011, he was represented by Bel Air Fine Art at the Art Monaco fair with his Cryptogram One creation. The following year, he presented his One Dollar works on the theme “In God We Trust” at the Artco France gallery. His 2016 solo show at the Atrium Gallery in Marbella, Spain, was inaugurated by the mayor, who lauded his works to the international press.

2026: - Finalization of the work One Dollar Green Bronze 8 meters 7 tons. The world's largest One Dollar sculpture created by the artist.

2025: - Installation of the monumental work Reflection of the Sun. Installed near the newly built Pavilion des Bains, on the Promenade Michel d’Ornano, inaugurated by Mayor Philippe Augier on September 8.

2024: - Art Miami - Collective exhibitions Galerie Nicolas Auvray New York. For the occasion, a bronze cryptogram of 1.8 meters and a 2-meter One Dollar were exhibited during the event.
- 50th anniversary of the Deauville American Film Festival, for which the artist created 18 bronze trophies as well as a 2-meter sculpture to be installed at the CID. The artists interviewed about the artist and who received the trophy include: Michael Douglas, Daisy Ridley, Natalie Portman, Michelle Williams, Mikey Madison...

2023: - Aspen Saint Regis: Installation of the 2-meter One Dollar sculpture in front of the St Regis. The Aspen Times covered the event in a dedicated article.

2022: - New York: Times Square NY City, projection on Nasdaq’s screen of the work “A One Dollar in the Cyberspace City.”

2017: - Karl Lagasse succeeds the prestigious Cartier House in creating the trophies for the Deauville American Film Festival.

2016: - Art Fair Paris at the Grand Palais
- A two-meter-tall, entirely bronze, One Dollar was exhibited at the Art Paris fair.
- The French president visited the exhibition and personally congratulated the artist for his work.
- First exhibition in Spain at the Atrium Gallery in Marbella, solo show with new collections in the presence of the international press and the mayor, Jose Bernal Gutierrez. A special performance by his wife, opera singer Cherise Lagasse, who performed pieces from her repertoire.

2015: - Second collaboration with Maserati with the creation of a monumental installation titled “A Piece of Heaven on Earth.” This work features a Maserati wrapped in a white plastic film and a sculpture of Jesus Christ. Around the car, several sculptures representing one-dollar bills are laid on the ground, symbolizing the repayment of humanity’s largest debt.

2014: - Maserati presents in world premiere the Maserati Ghibli reimagined by artist Karl Lagasse on the occasion of the brand’s 100th anniversary.
- Solo exhibition at the Italian Embassy in Paris. The Italian ambassador in France hosted a dinner in his presence, around the artist’s works.

2013: - Collective exhibition Automobile Club de France, Place de la Concorde, Paris.

2012: - Karl donated to the city of Deauville a Bronze Crytogram One sculpture, which will remain permanently at the city entrance.
- For the 65th Cannes Film Festival, Karl created a sculpture “Building” composed of a collage of photos tracing key moments in the festival’s history.
