Description
Available is a fascinating, richly adorned antique Kris grip (Gagang Keris) from Bali, Indonesia, dating to the early 20th century (ca. 1930). The three-dimensionally carved figure traditionally served as the handle for a ceremonial Kris dagger and represents the mythological deity Batara Bayu (the Indonesian god of wind) or a protective demon figure.
The object is characterized by its detailed handcrafted work. It is made of fire-gilded metal alloy (copper/bronze) and is set all around with colored, sparkling glass cabochons in red, green, and black. The grip displays a beautiful, authentic patina of age as well as charming wear marks that attest to decades of handling.
For stylish presentation, this historical collectible is supplied with a precisely fitting, elegant wooden display stand.
