Description from the seller

Elegant white porcelain cache-pot vase with blue underglaze Zwiebelmuster ("onion pattern"), made by the prestigious manufactory KPM – Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Berlin. The decoration, among the most famous in European tradition, draws inspiration from Oriental models of the 18th century and is characterized by a refined interweaving of floral elements, stylized leaves, peonies, chrysanthemums and symbolic fruits, arranged in a harmonious and balanced composition.

The vase features a cylindrical slightly flared shape, resting on a small annular foot and enriched by two elegant lateral handles molded into a volute. The decorative band running along the upper edge frames the main motif, executed with great painterly precision in the characteristic cobalt blue that distinguishes the Zwiebelmuster pattern.

Dimensions 18.5x23x17.5 cm

Excellent conditions, slight firing defects visible in the photograph: brown spots and minimal firing crack.

Probably mid-18th/19th century. The legend with the various KPM marks is attached as reported on the site https://www.kpm-berlin.com/en/blogs/news/the-kpm-stamp-and-its-history

Seller's Story

My name is Riccardo, I recently graduated in Art History from the University of Florence and I am passionate about porcelain. From tableware to artist vases, from figurines to tea and coffee sets, I am fascinated by the mastery and the ability of great artisans and designers who shape this so fragile material, turning a raw mass into masterpieces with a story to tell. During my years at university I became interested in the history of 19th- and 20th-century tableware art; today, every day, I work with prestigious porcelain pieces that always have something to say to me and to those who purchase them. Of my work I love that I can discover more about the objects I find as I travel around Italy, always learning something new. I always strive to convey to my clients this passion I have for the objects I sell, certain that each one of them has a story to tell: the story of who created it, the story of who preserved it, and the story of who will give it a new life.
