Description from the seller
Artist: Kino Mistral
Title: Chupa Chupa Pop
Technique: Oil and dripping on canvas
Dimensions: 40x30 cm
The work Chupa Chupa Pop by Kino Mistral represents an extraordinary and magnetic fusion between Pop Art aesthetics and a refined chromatic monochrome research, broken by accents of vibrant contrast.
The painting captures up close the face and bust of a female figure, entirely wrapped and shaped by intense and deep shades of electric blue and cobalt. The woman’s skin, treated with an impeccably smooth oil application, creates a play of volumes and soft shading that gives three-dimensionality to the face, the nose, and the hand lightly touching the lips. The hair flows to the sides of the face like dark waves, outlined by sinuous graphic lines in midnight blue that recall the technique of controlled dripping, infusing dynamism into the composition.
To interrupt the cold dominance of blue, elements of pure visual and emotional impact intervene, typical of the Pop imagery. The sunglasses, with striped mirrored lenses in gray and black, are framed by a bright red frame with confetti-pink edges, which immediately draw the observer’s gaze. The true conceptual and chromatic core is, however, the lollipop (from which the work’s title derives): a perfect sun-yellow circle, surrounded by the bright red of the lips and supported by a bright green stick. This iconic detail evokes a sense of playful sensuality and contemporary nostalgia.
In the bottom right, the work bears the artist’s autograph signature "Kino Mistral", elegantly traced in blue.
