Description from the seller
SUMMER BLUE
95 x 70 cm
Acrylic on canvas · 2026
Summer Blue presents a pared-down architecture beside the water, built from large color planes and a carefully balanced composition. The scene shows a pool in the foreground, two sun loungers floating on the surface, a red staircase and a curved walls and arches structure that rises against a sky graded from blues to warm yellows. The presence of the tree, towering over the architecture, introduces an organic counterpoint that breaks the geometry of the ensemble and lends the image a more evocative character.
The work stands out for its use of color as a structural and emotional element. The blues unify the space and create an atmosphere of suspended calm, while the intense reds intensify the visual rhythm and reinforce the sense of unreality. More than depicting a specific place, Summer Blue builds a landscape of silence, refuge and contemplation, where architecture, water and light are transformed into a serene and luminous image.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Mar Legón develops a painting practice focused on reinterpretations of landscapes, interiors and figurative scenes through a visual language based on color, formal synthesis and atmosphere construction. Her work is characterized by transforming recognizable spaces into scenes of strong visual intensity, where reality is simplified and reorganized to give rise to images that oscillate between memory, imagination and contemplation.
In her works, landscape and architecture do not appear as literal descriptions of a place, but as emotional structures capable of triggering a more open visual experience. The artist works with highly constructed compositions, a vibrant palette and a very conscious relationship between planes, volumes and emptiness, generating scenes that invite a slow gaze.
EXHIBITION AND VALUE OF THE WORK
Summer Blue is part of a line of work in which Mar Legón explores idealized architectures, resting landscapes and suspended-appearing scenes, using color as the main expressive tool. The work stands out for its ability to combine compositional clarity, chromatic power and a serenely strange atmosphere that places it between landscape painting, architectural evocation and fictional imagery.
This is a unique piece, entirely handmade in 2026, where several central traits of the artist’s recent production converge: the simplification of form, non-naturalistic use of color, the tension between nature and architecture, and a willingness to construct images that function both as landscapes and mental spaces. For its balance between visual sophistication, decorative strength and painterly personality, Summer Blue is a work especially attractive to collectors interested in contemporary color-rich painting, accessible language and a strong visual identity.
