Fortunato Garcia presents the original mixed‑media artwork THE QUANTUM CAT, a 2026 contemporary piece from Portugal in 80 × 50 cm with multicolour acrylics and metallic pigments, featuring relief acrylic spheres and hand‑applied surface treatments, signed and in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
This work combines figurative art and contemporary abstraction in a composition that portrays a cat enveloped by a network of colored spheres and graphic elements that evoke constellations, energy and invisible connections. The central image conveys serenity and mystery, while the three-dimensional elements add depth and dynamism to the composition.
The piece is created from an art print glued to canvas, subsequently transformed through a manual intervention process in mixed media technique. Acrylic paints, metallic pigments and surface treatments that use water, alcohol and controlled fire were applied to produce color changes, organic textures and visual effects impossible to reproduce identically.
The work stands out for the presence of multiple spheres manually applied in relief, creating a sculptural dimension that exceeds the limits of traditional painting. These applications are complemented by layers of thick varnish and high-gloss finishes that capture and reflect light differently throughout the day, providing a visual experience in constant transformation.
The contrasts between matte surfaces, metallic areas and bright elements generate a dialogue between light, matter and color, giving the piece a strong decorative and contemporary presence. Each manual intervention makes the work unique, making two pieces exactly alike impossible.
A creation that explores the relation between the animal world and the symbolic universe of particles, stars and energetic connections, inviting the observer to discover new details with every look.
Technique used: Print on watercolor paper, collage on canvas, textures on Chinese handmade paper, metallic acrylic paints, color changes and oxidations through water, alcohol and controlled fire. Applications of semi-spherical acrylic spheres of various colors and sizes
Dimensions: 80 × 50 cm.
Unique piece: Yes, due to manual intervention and relief-applied elements.
