Sarreguemines - H.Loux - Plate (23) - obernay - Earthenware

These plates are part of the famous tableware service "Obernai," one of the most iconic collections of the French earthenware manufacturer Sarreguemines.
The central illustration: The scenes depict traditional, rural, and picturesque life of Alsace (half-timbered houses, snowy landscapes, plowing scenes with horses, Alsatian villages). They are signed by H. Loux (Henri Loux), a famous Alsatian illustrator who captured the essence of his region.
The border (the marli): The edge of the plates is festooned (wavy) and decorated with a delicate and colorful frieze of flower garlands, mixing red/orange roses and small blue flowers (forget-me-nots) linked by a beige ribbon.
