A beautiful, thematically very strong set of 9 original and diverse issues of the well-known Belgian satirical weekly Pourquoi Pas? from the fascinating post-war period (1945–1948).
This lot forms a unique time document and contains sought-after covers and in-depth (satirical) dossiers on major geopolitical shifts, post-war scandals, and royal milestones.
The 9 issues in this lot:
Thomas E. Dewey (Nov 1948) – “Le Vaincu.” Stunning cover about the historic American election blunder in which Truman won unexpectedly.
M. Jean Rivière (ca. 1945) – Highly sought issue about the post-war collaboration trial of the Nazi propaganda director of Radio-Brussels.
“Après Oradour” – Laden edition about the aftermath and justice surrounding the infamous SS massacre at Oradour-sur-Glane, France.
